Newsletter from 7/3/26
Hello there! The last couple of months have been pretty stacked, and I had to put the newsletter on hold for a bit. However it’s been eventful. If you’ve been following along on social media you saw on May 30th the inaugural Montapalooza Music Festival happened. A huge storm also happened that day- complete with freezing temperatures and even some snow. Yes, you read that correctly. But the show went on, and despite the weather and lack of attendance it was actually a successful day. If you don’t start something, you’ll never know how it’s going to go. We’ve decided to do it again next year, but moved the date to July. I am pretty sure there is less chance of snow then.
I had a bit of travel and guests too. I went down to Maryland to help my sister move. THEN my daughters came to visit. And in-between I kept the business moving. This is actually the first week in some time I feel like I have my head on straight.
I have also slowly but surely been spending time re-branding my website a bit. New logo, fonts, colors. Something I’ve been wanting to do for quite awhile, I also finally updated a few things I’ve needed to add, such as a link to subscribe to the newsletter and my partnership with the Wachusett Business Incubator. Eventually I will do a complete overhaul, but I will find someone else to provide this service for me. I’m a web-maintainer, not a web-designer.
Now we’re full-on into summer, and I can tell vacation is on everyone’s brain. The streets are so empty outside my office. School is out, vacations are in. If you get a chance to take some time, please do it. You certainly deserve it. If you want some assistance so you can take some time off this summer and not worry about your business dropping in the algorithms, get in touch. I have several options to fit whatever you might need. Let’s chat!

When you have consistent content, the algorithm doesn’t matter.
Here are some ways to use consistency in your content beyond just how often you post:
- tell stories and/or have community-first content
- use recurring themes… like…. TIP TUESDAY!
- get in the comments daily (of your content and others)
- mix content that is “evergreen” (it also remains the same and consistent) along with trends and new information
I’m always here to help you figure out the best marketing strategies for your business, band, or brand. Get in touch HERE. I’d love to help.

In Episode 89, I covered he U.S. government’s antitrust case against Live Nation. It had suddenly been settled, but the story isn’t over yet as dozens of states plan to continue pursuing the fight over ticketing competition and consumer harm.
I also break down Apple Music’s new “AI transparency tags,” designed to label when artificial intelligence was used in a track’s creation. It’s an interesting step toward transparency, but the big question is how effective it will really be.
And in a cultural twist, some Gen Z and millennial listeners are stepping away from streaming and rediscovering CDs and other physical media as a way to experience music more intentionally. I tell you why.
You can listen to the episode right HERE.

The Words You Can’t Say On The Internet
This was a great read, covering ways we have changed spelling so we aren’t blocked by social sites, or code words in order to get messages out without the algorithm getting in the way.
“Algospeak, as it’s often called, is a whole coded language built around the idea that algorithms bury content that uses forbidden words or phrases, either to boost the political agendas of social media companies, or to sanitise our feeds for advertisers.”
